Paul Purgas is a UK based artist and musician. He has presented performance and installation projects with Tate Modern, London's Whitechapel Gallery, Wysing Arts Centre and Outpost gallery in Norwich. Alongside this he has been an active curator of experimental music in the UK for the last 10 years and is one half of the sound/performance project Emptyset releasing material through the Berlin/Chemnitz based raster-noton label.
Here, Purgas has put together a mix of material by artists, composers and musicians whose work has built connections across different artistic disciplines and created a wider set of relationships between sound, performance, contemporary art and design as well as the fields of writing and education. It celebrates a broader spectrum of how the aural can be understood and the potential for sonic awareness as a platform to reflect upon infrastructures of technology and culture.
